Cattle and Sheep in Ireland
The most common breeds of cattle that you will find in Ireland are Charolais, Limousin, Aberdeen Angus, Belgian Blue and Hereford. The main sheep breeds you will find are Suffolk and Cheviot.
In Ireland, it is illegal to use growth hormones on animals and likewise the use of antibiotics for the prevention of sickness is also not carried out. In Ireland, factor farming is not practiced.

The three governing bodies are responsible for controlling the safety and traceability of food in Ireland.
